School Exercise: lipsync animation
One of my favorite animation exercises, since it allowed a very expressive character animation and because it required at least a little bit of self irony.
It was animated pose to pose on Toonboom Harmony, and I created the shading effect through the node function of the same program.
Project stages
I followed the traditional pipeline, referencing a video of myself acting out the script, which I think helped convey my own specific way of emoting and gesticulating - just like a true Italian. In hindsight, I would have added a couple of inbetween frames to make the animation smoother in some points, but I still think it's solid work.
Final design
Character concept
I wanted a silly design made of simple shapes - so that it would be easier to animate in the little time I was given. The color palette matches Shrek's and conveys the lack of iron in my blood.
